Eneloop V Life

I need to shed some nose weight out of my Xplorer and have a 5 cell eneloop AA pack in the nose from SUSA. Has anyone compared weights between one of these packs and 1400 mah life pack?

I cut the stock connectors and added a pig tail to power a Ram 3 so the weight gain/ loss is about wash..

A life pack is lighter than a 4 cell eneloop pack...

If anyone is wondering a 5cell eneloop 1500 pack is 4.85oz or 138grams V. life 1200 pack at 2.75oz or 79 grams. That is a good savings if trying to push your CG back without adding tail weight. The 1450 life packs are 89 grams, you can save a little more by cutting off some of the big connectors.

Just to be clear -- calling it an Eneloop 1500 pack is misleading. The Eneloop cells are 2000mah.
I guess they are "rated" for 1500 cycles if anybody cares about that.

Good catch, Lenny.
I think that the ELITE 2/3 A 1500 cells are more of a direct (size and capacity wise) swap for the 2S 1450 Hyperion.

Eneloop may be rated for 2000 mah but they seem to be really closer to 1900.

This is actually a pretty good summary of eneloop batteries:

This provides some more detailed specifications:

Stefano,

Many of the NiMh chemistry cells are discharged to 0.9 volts/cell. If you are using a 1.1 or 1.0 volts/cell discharge setting, that might be the difference.

Not quite on the topic... but check out the GP270AAHC cells.
I like my 4 cell packs. Only 31g each, rated at 2600mAh but can be discharged at up to 7.5A .
Mine are at 2780-2850mAh, down to 0.9v/cell .

The lighter AAA cells (GP100AAAHC) http://www.gpbatteries.com/INT/image...GP100AAAHC.pdf
are rated at 970mAh and only weigh 15.2g/cell . They show discharge curves up to 2790mA. I haven't tried these yet, but plan to in one of my electric sailplanes possibly this summer.

Eneloop 1500's are AAA size.

The AA are 2000 or 2500.

I have converted several models over from either 4 cell Eneloop AA or 4 cell 2/3A intellect tp Hyperion 2000 Life cells, with some I had to strip the wrapping off, with the FS4 I moved the servos back further.
Weights all seem very much the same.

No, the AAA size is 800mah.

1500 is simply the number of cycles that the cells will supposedly deliver.
