Phantom's flight time is relative to 6 main variables:

1) Total weight (phantom + battery + Extras as camera, gimbal, FPV etc)
2) Flight style ( slow, fast climb, descend, aggresive sticks, etc)
3) Wind condition + GPS active (as stronger winds as more battery juice for keep hover)
4) Battery status / cycles reached.
5) ALS (at highlands, more power for flying in thin air, so shorter flight time)
6) Propellers size / brand

In general as i have read here, and my own experiences, some average flight times are:

Naked phantom: 12-14 min.
Phantom + GoPro stock mount: 10-12 min.
Phantom + GoPro waterproof case: 9-10 min.
VTX / OSD : decrease 1-3 min
FPV mini camera (no GoPro): decrease 1-2 min.
Gimbal: decrease 3-5 min.
Graupner/ Zinger props 8x5": decrease 1-2 min.
Graupner/ Zinger props 9x5": increase 1-2 min.

My phantom actually flights 5-6 min. with gimbal + gopro3 + FPV + mini OSD + stock propellers at 2000 mts ASL.
Every one must do own tests because it is very relative to field, altitude, style, add ons and other stuff on phantom IMO.

vtx mount

Was at Pacific Coast Hobbies and got the Gaui Vision system (it looks great) - Tony showed me these side battery mounts which can be used as a vtx mount. I will be placing my Gaui vtx on this (or maybe on one of the legs) but it does look pretty clean, adds very little weight.

Good info

I was just curious about the flight times. I knew that I would have to do my own testing. I was just curious if anyone has figured out how to get linger flight times. Thank you very much for the info. One more. Where is everyone buying your phantom at?

It came with two so I have a spare...if anyone wants it just message me (first one gets it) be nice to give something back there's been so much great info here
someone already discussed these side battery mounts. They probably interfere in the props air flux, which can compromise quad performance...

for me, the best Phantom's mod would be increasing flight times in some way...

from this thread https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1880665 it seems that it could be done by using a battery with higher power density amps/weight. EndOfDays, in this thread, used a customized LiIon power pack with 17.67mAh/g (Nano-techs are 9.63mAh/g according to post #2)

I suspected so myself, but it's just one...and the Phantom isn't a performance flyer it supposed to gently float around - flew 4 packs no change in feel or flight time

don't think I would attach two with batteries on each side, it ain't a camel!

I just discovered the best "weight" to use for balancing props - brush on super glue! It dries instantly! I tried with nail polish as the GF had it lying around, but it took too long to dry and it makes the whole room smell, but the brush on super glue from Loctite worked perfectly! It's real easy to remove it with a bit of sanding.

I spent 1 hour yesterday balancing ONE CF prop. These things are HARD to balance The Zingers are perfectly balanced in 20 min or so.

Here it is: http://www.loctiteproducts.com/p/sg_brush/overview/

wont you have to suspend the battery on this tray in order to see the LED?

do they not mount on the sides of the phantom rather than front & back??

if you read my post I was just saying I will be using it to mount my vtx, not batteries

Why do you Naza wrapped in the gold / copper foil? Does it have any practical sense, or was it just for the installation of such protection?

Yeah, yeah, I know this, I was also tortured with it.
However, on balance CF propellers successfully used some old and unused nail polish from my wife, which I her occupied (it was a tip from SimenSays). Just go to the nail studio, where she's doing and does not need ...It dries very quickly and is very aromatic
