Actually, the main SAE hub for team participant related communications is the SAE forum, itself. We can use the new T-Bird forum for some club coordination, but anything that is SAE “official” is to be via the SAE site.

From Randy Davis ....

There will be a training session for aircraft inspectors and other volunteers at the Spring Creek BBQ on highway 80 West/Camp Bowie at 1PM until as late as 5PM on Saturday, March 2. The aircraft inspection will be held on Friday, March 15 at LMRA, from 8AM until 5PM. The inspection process includes many important technical and safety points that must be closely controlled during the competition, so the training class is very important.

If you want to be an aircraft inspector, you must attend the training session. We are primarily recruiting volunteers from other clubs to help with aircraft inspections, but there are other opportunities to help us, as well.

This will be one of the largest SAE contest ever held and we want it to be the best!

Attached is some background information about the SAE Aero Design event.

If you see any changes that need to be made please let me know.

Thanks
Randy Davis

A little late to chime in on this thread, but the Fort Worth Thunderbirds REALLY enjoyed hosting all the hard working and talented college teams for the SAE Aero design East 2013 competition.

A special thank you to all the Thunderbird and other club volunteers that made the event possible. We had 65 out of 75 teams show up for the event and it was our largest SAE ever.

Lockheed Martin and the Fort Worth Thunderbirds will be hosting Aero Design West 2014 at out field next year, dated TBD, sometime around Spring Break in March. (There are three sites used: Palmdale/LA, Fort Worth and Marietta. On years when SAE Aero Design East is in Marietta, Fort worth serves as the West event. On years when West is in CA, we serve as East. Fort Worth takes one year off in three and on those years, West is in Ca and East is in Marietta.)
