Hi Tim,
I don't know where you're at with the strut installation. When I installed mine on "Cabin Fever" the stuffing box and the driveshaft were installed and the strut was installed where it would set on the hull. I mixed up some bondo and put it under the base of the strut and allowed the strut to set loosely on the bondo in the position I wanted it to be. This is how I made up for the dead rise of the hull. When the bondo cured I faired it into the surrounding hull. It really wasn't much bondo because the dead rise back there is minimal. This should help minimize any binding on the driveshaft. I pre-drilled the holes for the mounting screws. At this point the strut is resting slightly on the bottom side of the driveshaft because the boat is upside down. I figured that the paint under the strut base raised the strut to further minimize friction. Your boat looks fantastic, Tim. I admire your courage for building from scratch.. P.S. I just bought a Sterling runabout on E-Bay. A Higgins 17' Sport Speed. It's only 16" long. I've never seen or heard of this Sterling kit before. Dick |

Si, effectively won the lotto on this one ( start up medical lasers ), I will bust ace as long as I can and save the walnuts for whatever retirement I can muster up.
Then I can Really start buying/building like the Wildman OBW ! ( he reminds me of the Tasmanian Devil of model boat building ) |
