using 2 lipos in parallel

hi guys,

i really have a noobish question.
i might have to use 2x 6s lipo batteries (2x the same battery) in parallel to have the double capacity.

is there anything important i have to look at?
do i have to balance-charge both together as one big battery or is it ok to balance charge each and then simply connect to the Y-wire?
is there a need to do anything with the balancer wires? i saw pictures where people connected these wires for some reason i dont know.

if i forgot anything please let me know, this is the first time i'm gonna try that

Running batteries in parallel is fine if they're the same voltage (i.e. same cell-count), and is best if they're same spec. with the same usage history. You don't do anything with the balance wires. But you need to check that your model can handle the extra weight, and make sure the c of g is still correct.

Charging in parallel is okay if you have the right balance board that'll take your balance leads and main leads together. But you don't have to parallel charge just because you've used them in parallel. Whether you do or not probably depends on whether your charger can handle the double load, and whether you want to save time and hassle compared with two separate charges.

ok, i'm having a question:

when i use parallel setup with 2 batteries, powering 2 EDF units, when both motors together go around 120amps, are the amps split on the parallel battery setup, so every battery draws 60A?

i thought about connecting single batteries to each EDF unit but didnt know how to solder the BEC power wire to both..

i never had a dual battery setup, thats why it confuses me

normally for 2 motors, if you use 2 Lipos, you want to use parallel so both motors see 1 battery. It's better in terms of synching up the rpm on the motors.

anyways, if the draw is 120amps...yes each Lipo would see around 60amps- also to that, you've also doubled up on the mah, so you can pull more.

for example if you have a 1000mah 20c, you can safely full 20amps
if you put 2x 1000mah 20c, you can now safely pull 40amps.
