Its amazing to me how well "Truthteller" rhymes with "Slimeseller". Perhaps a little truth there too.

I like the part where he says that you will save money and your wife will thank you if you fly sailplanes, not sure she would thank you when you buy 3-4 2500.00 F3J models a year. hahaha

Sorry, Keith, but I was at the same gathering, and in the same thermal, outclimbing you by at least 2:1. I then heard your theories about side drafts, and several other unpredictable phenomenon, and as I said before, you're overthinking that a lot. DSing in full-scale has been done and written about by Karl Striedek and Dick Johnson. (The late, great Mr. Johnson was a lifetime personal friend of mine.) They both said it was not really worth the stress and trouble, and too unpredictable to be used practically. Sorry to bust your bubble... A Wal-Mart bag will thermal, and I've seen Coke cans in dust devils, going up. Not saying it can't be done... just saying coring a good thermal with good piloting skills with a glider designed for that purpose will win out every time, in thermalling.

Well, the fastest I've climbed in a full-scale was a touch over 1800 feet per minute... over a large grass fire, but I have routinely climbed over 1000 fpm. Haven't seen that kind of climb with models, and I thermal with just about anyone. He wants you to stay away from forums because... well... you be the judge.
