Micro / mini canopy from plastic bottle...step by step

As introduction I had some problems with the stock canopies which came with my micro and mini quads:
  • the most of the stock canopies are fragile and could crack quite easily
  • dont help the orientation too much
  • I'm not a big fan of the UFO/bug type of canopies...

...so I have decided to make my own...

The material of the plastic bottle is ideal, due its bombproof and lightweight and due its transparent we can paint as we want to.

So the Lego friends of my daughters have heard what I was planned and decided to help...for the detailed steps see the attached images below:

The Micro canopy

Fits for H36 / V939 / V202 / MiniPet / Walkera LadyBird...etc...due the splitted nose the H36 headlights provide some nice visual at low light!

Chosing the color for the "racing H36": as I have experienced during the flying the most important to know where is the nose..

There is two things to need to keep in mind:
  • you will see the quad from below
  • and you need to could focus on the nose PROMPTLY

So make the canopy painting to keep the nose focused from bottom as well AND as I have found choose light color for the body, like white but light gray would be even better! Meanwhile paint the nose to some glowing neon color, like glow orange, etc...BUT due there is not that contrast between the orange/white, I have added a black collar where the orange and the body color meet.

Why is it important?

Because with this color the silhouette of the bird wont be that contrastful like using the black main body...and could focus to the nose even faster with the lighter colored body, which blends to the background!

Of coz its only important for rookie pilots like me, and when the time past and getting more experience could make the canopy even prettier..

By the way my fav is the black/orange canopy for the V949 Twister, but flying the white body version is mucho easier!!!

By the way, you should make that into a slideshow for Youtube with subtitles and music and shoot a few extra scenes for the sake of drama. You know, like when the completed quad turns into a Skynet killing machine. And GI Joe with the kung fu grip has to intervene. Mr Potatohead has a panic attack. Etc.
