As far as I can tell, this wouldn't require huge ridges, high winds and extreme speeds. How tightly can you turn a sturdy DLG (or a foam wing) at a treeline?

First WR!!!!!

Hello,

today we have a "big day" with Winds from west and 4-5 Bft or 12 to 18 mph.
For our relationships that was a good day, in your yardsticks that was a training day
the top speeds were at 125 for Pat and 158 mph for me.

Date: 2013-06-23
Pilot: Jörg Duggen
Plane: Opus MC3
Location:at Mainsite, north of Bavaria/Germany
Wind Speed: 12-18 mph
Orbits:30 (speed between 111 and 137 mph)
Witness: Pat Reichstetter
Video link: sorry, no vid

Sorry, we have no vid, will do it next time.

best regards

Jörg

Hi Tim,

yes, 2 min are very long, my site is very roughly and many trees try to catch the plane....
This is only a quick and dirty prototyp to test the aerodynamic. flies great and makes a lot of fun, but no ds possible, its not heavy enought at the moment. Vid from yesterday is here

Flugerprobung vereinfachter Prototyp TB-Minirock 3-4 Bft (4 min 43 sec)

Build it strong, stiff and heavy, about 1.8kg should do by the looks of it, and it should be a pocket rocket

a wing is enough

Hi Tim,

we try again and again to fly DS with the Minirock, but as Jörg wrote the 24 g/dm² prototype is too light to survive the turbulence without a full stop.

Today I mounted 150 g under the skirt of the Minirock and attempted to break the new world record, but the conditions were only 2 Bft with crosswind and the best on video was 20 rounds in 2 minutes because of some thermaling in between

Perhaps i upload the 20 rounds-video at the thermal section

Here is a shorter video than 2 minutes with 28 g/dm², but the Minirock-prototype is not nearly as fast as your genius GIZMO:

TB Minirock Flugerprobung: Soft-DS bei 2 Bft (1 min 21 sec)

Regards,

Uwe.
