This is what I could find for determining terminal coordinates based on current position, bearing and distance. This would be used to calculate the phantom waypoint on the fly. Since your osd as seen above already knows the current coords and bearing (291) it should just be a matter of doing maths. Accuracy isn't paramount.

but fulfilling user expectations is a paramount :-) Quote:
By the way schematic for my OSD M328 is available since 2008 here: http://rc-cam.pl/viewtopic.php?t=199 But I don't know how releasing source code (and all knowledge) will increase sale of new design. It potentially inceases number of people trying to build another exciting OSD, slightly changing my code... Let me build my reputation slowly, in my way |

Thanks. In fact this kind of job can't be finished at all.
We are working not only on ground station - "another brick" in out FPV system, but also on new features for OSD, Autopilot and PC management software. Latest version 2.8 was published january 13, and today new features mentioned by users are ready for BETA tests (I hope snow and low temperature won't postpone tests). Among other features there is a new temperature sensor with extended range -30C (Siberian users will be happy :-) ) up to 120C (is someone going to visit Sahara?) or -20F to 250F if you choose "imperial" units to be displayed. For any displayed item you can choose Inverted B/W letters (especially in upper part of screen when black letters on bright sky will be better visible), and added user Callsign, especially for radio amateurs with HAM licenses, but one can put here any text he like, e.g. nick from RC-groups :-) . |

I'm so glad that Zbig and PitLab decided to inform all RC flying hobbies about grate OSD and wonderfull AP.
I use this system from all last year and I'm still impressed how well it works. It has some safte settings like minimal GPS speed, min and max altitude for autonomus flight, 9 waypoints, full customizable OSD layouts, many, many parameters for stabilistaion and autopilot tuning. But we still have some suggestions about OSD and AP functionality. Maybe this time Zbig will be more willing to make fast change :-) : - all 4 layouts to be user defined - now are 2 (with sublayouts) and this is realy greate but 4 is better - as Zbig announced - black OSD content - maybe alternativ fonts apperance - AP in stab mode to fly "just forward" (keep cours magneto or GPS) as you can read in previous posts - some additional sensor like temp, air speed - some of them are working on On You Tube and Vimeo there is a lot of films, how well this OSD&AP performs. One of users (AP beta testers) even fly without ailerons - only rudder ! |

In fact fixed layouts are OK at early stage of this project, when OSD has limited set of OSD objects on sreen, and few configured options and sensors user can use and optionally turn on, or change it's appearance. Now, with growing number of options fixed layouts seems obsolete. 2 fully user-defined layouts will fit most FPV flyers. Probably most of users at the end of the day will use only one layout (as I did). Nevertheless something should be done with fixed layouts. Maybe just remove it? Btw. Layout designer looks like this: Application works on PC with Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8, all of them 32 or 64 bit), without installation. No drivers is reqired for USB connection to OSD, so application can be started instantly from any location or device (e.g. pendrive) on any machine with Windows. |

I've got serious problem with this request.
Font size is choosen according to former and present user expectations, and of course my (and my wife as well ) private experience (my google are Z800 - with quite big FOV and resolution) Some of users claim that fonts are too big, but another said that larger fonts will be better . When I look at movies on YouTube from OSD with smaller fonts - they are almost illegible. But on the other hand larger font will occupy big part of screen thus obscuring view. So what is your opinion? Bigger or smaller? Or any other suggestion? Bigger font causes another problem: there will be no space for all menu items with on-line help :-( |

I'm shure everyone pilot has his most favorite layout, including me. I have my 2nd favorite, and I cant designe my 3rd and "technical" layout (may be all possible information completly useless in standard flight) Sometimes, in flight, it is worth check some parameters in exaple roll and pitch for adjust the AP horizon. About font: is there any pixels x pixels area for fonts? In the picture for me it is quite OK, but I prefeer smaller, to be honest I would like another font style. Long time ago on ZX Specrum (as I remember) all coders has 8 x 8 pixels and font styles was so many. |

Font is 12px height x 10px width for each character. There is no variable -sized letters (or kerning). So far there is only one set.
Other font is possible, of course it need to be defined in pixel-by-pixel basis (I hate such a work). Due to font body (black) and outline (white) it can't be made much smaller, but 11x9px or probably 10x9px will be possible. It makes it only 10% smalller, without real harm to its appearance. Here is original 12x10 and reduced 11x9 sample letters: As you can see vertical lines in font are 2px width. This is because of aspect ratio of pixels - it is not exactly 1:1 (rather 4:3), and very thin lines will be hardly legible in tough conditions. This gives also effect of thick body of font with thin outline, which looks better. According to font size there will be also changes in designer, according to new "field" sizes. Changing font for whole screen seems to be quite straightforward, but mixing them in one layout may be more difficult and will require far more work. We are independent from Smart OSD and Andrzej Antosik, we know him only from FPV forum in Poland. Speaking of layouts number, removing fixed layouts is simplest task, but I agree: for customer it is better to add something rather than remove :-) I'll think about it. |

Ok. Alot of his work looks similar to yours and I knew they were based in Poland. I love the smart osd for Mikrokopters because of the software interface and great features, and yours looks to have similar capability, but for any kind of aircraft. Sweet. Good luck with it!
