Most popular RC planes?

Most popular can mean most sold, most flown, most loved, most loved by RCGroup members....let's not split hairs. Gas or electric....hoping for a list of the most popular planes in our collective memories....

To start, I think the most popular RC plane in my short RC career must be the....

As I was reading your post I kept thinking "GWS Slow Stick" and then I saw that's what you said. That plane does have quite a following. . . nine 1000+ paged threads.

Yes, guess that didn't take much thinking. I went ahead and named it in hopes that we get quickly past the handful of obvious ones and get a decent list of other popular fliers...

But you forget as often is the case on such large forums ... these fora are International and many models / items are not available elsewhere.

UK - the WOT4 is good contender for Model of All Time .. literally every club / flight line in UK has WOT4's scattered through them ... BUT not available in USA ... at least not in it's original best form.

Sticks - never even seen one on a flight line and thats me RC'g for over 40yrs.

I'm sure it's different at any particular location. But in our area, it almost has to be the Parkzone T28. I believe everybody I know has one and you cannot go to a gathering of rc flyers without seeing several. Most owners have a lot of more advanced planes, but still keep one of these around and fly them regularly.

The Super Sportster has been a popular model for over 30 years (introduced in '82)... one size of SS might not be THE favorite, but I'm willing to bet collectively it's in at least the top 5 most flown planes ever. To pick one size, the 40 probably makes up 90% of all Super Sportsters.

Without a doubt... the Sig Kadet, Senior, Seniorita, and LT-40 each on their own probably have sold more than any other.

Combined... Sig is still in business for a reason.

I read, heard, or something that the all time best selling RC airplane
was the Goldberg Anniversary Cub.

Not sure about the overall picture, but in our club we seem to be
the only ones that do any posting on any web site, or the only
one the admits to it. So what you see here is a very slim part
of the RC world. Only a few of our members order online.
Most still send mule mail orders or phone them in. There was
a heated meeting when the club wanted to go paperless to save
money. Some don't even have a computer at home.

By posts here, the T-28 is the most common.

I'd have to go with the Ugly Stick designs followed buy the Kaos series. The GWS Lite-Stick brought a lot of modellers into electric powered flight followed by the GWS Formosa. Today the T-28's dominates the field however I've noticed that more and more larger sophisticated models with higher power are showing up all the time. Only time will tell what will reign as the most popular electric design, but so far the T-28 seems to be a top contender.

I agree. some of the guys I fly with have at least 1 high wing plane, or maybe a slow stick, but, pretty much all have a T-28 of some kind.
