None adjustable drive line bad
Kick back rudder good
brushed 380 bad no power / needs motor swap
Nimh batts , bad /less power and more weight than lipo.
esc old tech
hull is ok but 100+ bucks to get it is your choice.

Straight drive line can be taken out if you wish to upgrade.
Boat cant take much more then 600w.
Twin 300w brushless motors would be fast with a single 4S pack in the middle. water cooled in runners 2800kv / x427 props.

Good boat for a young lad 14yrs of age. or a adult with money to burn on upgrades.

Its a nice boat... but slower than their original Proboat Mini-C.

The run time is about 5 minutes on their provided Dynamite battery.

I bought it and don't really feel like running it anymore just because it is so slow... but it looks REALLY nice...

If you don't mind tinkering get a used Mini-C junk the guts and upgrade.
I did that and ended up with a fun boat for cheap.
Quite a few upgrade threads on RCG.
Great for running anywhere and easy to haul around.
I have some pretty fast and expensive boats but sometimes the ones that are easy to set up and cart around are the most fun.

BTW I saw your avatar.
Do you have a Mini?
I have a 2004 JCW with the MC-40 package.
Fun car!

Just picked one up! Luckly it already has a brushless motor in it, getting ready to put a ecs in it...! Going to try it on 3s.. I'm sure i'll skip across the water!

Try a 2200 amh 3s 40c or 60c if you feel brave, im sure IF the motor and esc are up to it,you should see a significant increase in speed over what the standard brushed motor " le escargot de la mer" set up achieves. Really the little Miss Geico is like a Cinderella BEFORE the ball in standard form, she cries out for a decent brushless motor to bring out her best.
It was probably marketing economics that restricted that lovely little "cat" to a brushed motor and puny battery to begin with, and even then a typical UK price of just shy of 130 is pretty steep for a brushed motor in a seventeen inch boat!!!! Especially when the Joysway Sea Rider Lite 4 is less than half the price!!!! Eg. 62.50. That said, the Miss Geico is a beautiful and well finished boat and one to be proud of.

Just keep in mind that it's a smallish cat hull, so it can get touchy as you make it go faster and lift increases. Also you will want water as smooth as possible. The bigger the cat, the rougher the water can be.

Is 2040 the motor size, or the kv? If it's the size, that'll be way too small for a boat this big. If it's the kv, you'll be ok.

Sorry.. it is a 2848, 2600kv. Ran it a few days ago, i'll do a barrel roll, if you don't program down the punch %.. Have it set at 8% now, but have to watch it's been running warm. Maybe going down a prop size...!

Sounds much more suitable. Keep in mind that outrunners run warm. Just don't let them exceed 150F.

If torque roll is an issue, try a 2845 inrunner with a 30mm prop. What size are you currently running?
