Can someone explain motor ratings?

I understand kv, amps etc, but what does it mean when a motor is listed as 2826, 3025, 2836.........what do those numbers denote??

Thanks anyone!

It's stator's diameter and length.
2826 = Diameter 28mm, length = 26mm

Also, Some older plans show "speed-300-motor" OR "Speed-400-motor"
how do I find the best brushless equivalent - Is there a conversion chart or something?

Thanks

It is not always stator size although that is the most common. Some manufactures such as Leopard use the overall motor dimensions which can get confusing and hard to compare to other brands.

Only the last two digits are sure, the length of stator or magnets.
The first two digits you can't bet without an explicit specification from the manufacturer, it can be external bell diameter as well as internal stator diameter.
2212 for example I am pretty sure means 22mm stator diameter, because I know these motors, but otherwise... what is more confusing is the fact that the same manufacturer can label the same motor as 2212 or 2830... the later being the external bell dimensions.
There are several classes, quite well standardized:
- 22mm stator = 28mm external diameter
- 28mm stator = 35mm external diameter
- 35mm stator = 42mm external diameter
etc...

As you can see, one class external diameter size is the internal stator size for the next class.
