Early '50s Chris Craft Conqueror kit or plans???

I've always thought the early 50's CC Conqueror was a beauty. Has anyone made a kit or are there plans avail. suitable for building a model?

I agree with your thinking about the C-C Conqueror, Tim. I have thought that an experienced, determined modeler could convert a Sterling Catalina model into a reasonable facsimile of a Conqueror. The modeler would need to start construction from the beginning with that goal in mind. Obviously, the hull would need to be elongated for this project, but that is doable. The rivet counters would probably not approve of this, but such a conversion could be pretty convincing if viewed from a distance.
Another such conversion, larger in size, could be made using a Sterling Corvette kit or model as a basis for it. (okay Norgale, calm down.) The Corvette model or kit would be sacrificed, but a unique, large model would be produced from it that is presently unobtainable anywhere. A scale of 1" = 1' would be a nice scale to work with, IMO.
Just food for thought...
I have been copying photographs of Conquerors seen in this and other forums, and have original copies of Chris-Craft Conqueror ads from magazines from the 1950's; they are all in a file folder devoted solely to the C-C Conqueror. So far, just thinkin'.

Interesting free thinking anarchy Mr. Jeepers !

I like it ...

I have similar rivet counter feather-ruffling plans for a Chuck Steffan glass Catalina hull, but not a Conqueror....

His Cat hull is 31 inches, but he Does have Corvette hulls also in glass at 48 inches ...

Wiki shows the 1953 CC-52-001 ( Conqueror ) to be 52', maybe Chuck's 48 inch Corvette could come close !

52' Conqueror (1953) Hulls CC-52-001 > CC-52-029
53' Conqueror (1954-55) Hulls C-53-001 > C-53-026
54' Conqueror (1956) Hulls C-54-001 > C-54-009
55' Conqueror/Constellation (1957-60) CX-55-101 > CX-55-128
(Four 55' Conquerors were built, somewhere within the 101-128 range of hull numbers)

For more information contact The Mariner's Museum, Chris Craft Collection, Newport News, VA or

see "Chris Craft - The Essential Guide" by Jerry Conrad, Archivist of the Chris Craft Collection at the Mariners Museum.

Jerry is a great guy - figure out which hull you want and get in touch with them or him and see what they have on that hull.

Thanks for that information, Craig C. I knew there was more than one hull length for the Conquerors.
