Yellow Air A 4


I currently have a Yellow Aircraft A 4 Skyhawk that has been in my hanger for many years. I have been getting the motivation to complete this thing but instead of running a Glow Motor I would like to convert it to electric. I have the Airframe built and is almost ready to shoot color.
I like to know if anybody has converted one of these Skyhawks into Electric and how was the performance? Also did the over all weight come out lighter than the Glow version? I have a Dynamax Fan already and would like to use it if possible. If anyone can forward pics of there setup that would be a great help.

they convert very well. best is to use a 90mm set as you can cut the weight way down. But the dynamax will work. I am sure one of the guys that have one will check in and fill you in.

i just finished doing some detail, and painting this one for PDAWG. this model is perfect for 90-100mm fans, in the 2700-4000w range.

Very Nice, your A4 looks like a YA. What type of DF/Motor combo are you going to use and do you have any pics of the inside?

I picked the Table up from a friend of mine. The table is made from two solid core doors and are clamped together. Laminated a new surface and put a glass top on it. I have built many IMAC planes on it and has served me very well. Believe or not it stay's straight even with 300 pounds of weight on the wing panels.

its not my A-4,.its pdawgs, i just painted it for him. its a first generation YA A-4.i believe he is going to run a jetfan 90, with a HET 700-68-1680 motor on 8s 6000mah. should be about 3kw, and the weight will be under 11 lbs, with 9 lbs of thrust

If you're using the stock inlets you're going to want to stick with the 120mm fans like the E-Turbax or Dyn-E-Max. They'll fly the hell out of that little jet on 12s. You'll have to get a little creative on battery placement inside the fuse though, but no worries. I've seen the Yellow A-4 fly at over 18 pounds and it flies VERY well.
