German flying ocean Stingray...

Anyone else seen these? A friend sent plans and picture. Have seen a SeaWorld German video of them flying inside. Look cool. May have to try one. Anyone know anything more about them?

I can help with some information!
Instructions are published in the German magazin called FMT! (issue 7/2012)
The whole plane is made out of Selitron due to fact that it is easier to bend!
I can have a look for the magazin, so I can post more details

I built a very similar stingray a few years back. This one was made from epp. Sea Ray thread.

Sea Ray, V2 (2 min 57 sec)

Yep, Tigger those were the videos I saw. Great indoor stuff.

Leadfeather..... cool. I did your Apache a few years back. Loved it.
Nice stingray. Looks maybe a bit pitch sensitive for me.

Can glue better than fly!
Cool stuff, and the crap myself moment was the guy in the first vid with the hammerhead foamy shark that looks like the one i designed years ago here on rcgroups. That thread never really got much interest so it was cool to see someone else that actually built and flew one. My original one still flys, but only a couple times a season anymore. Love the flying fish!

@leadfeather:
Lutz (the guy on the left on the first picture) got the idea from your EPP Stingray;
His idea was to build a Stingray which is able to fly Indoor and it is possible for everyone to build!

The Stingray on the plans has a wingspan of 1,06m and a lenght of 1,32m
weight is about 250g;
Lipo 2-3S 350mAh and uses the 1700KV "Blue Wonder" motor;
3X6g Servos

For the building:
Almost everything is made of 3mm Selitron (lighter and more flexible then Depron)
Only the landing skid and the formers are 6mm Selitron
the Wing gets some Carbon Spars (0,5X3mm and 1X3mm). the cross on the wing is made out of glass fibre although Plywood will also work.
Although not mentioned in the plan you should add 1,5 of downthrust
the Eyes are made out of Ping Pong balls!

If you need anything else; just let me know

Thanks Tigger. Have used Depron (imported it myself from Sweden years ago) but not familier with "Selitron". Is it like EPP ? Any place to get some in the states to play with ?

Its almost like Depron! Its a little bit lighter then Depron but also not so stable!
It will soon get some Dents! I also prefer Depron!

I wonder if model plane foam would be a good substitute. It's not as rigid as depron and is light.
