They were under lock and key behind his front door. Even if they were locked in a gun cabinet they would have broke into it just like they broke into his house.

Fail?... This was an outstanding citizen he could have shot her. She wasn't hurt, the owner got his stuff back and the criminal system has a chance to decide their fate. Sounds unbelievably postivitve.

Win in my opinion.
