RFM Folding prop-spinner offset question?

Hi,

I have a RFM folding prop 17x18 model 5 offset.
On variuos websites, the vendors say "you must use a offset spinner"
Do I really need to get a RFM offset spinner or can I use a beefy stock spinner and the prop will be ~17x13 or something less than 17x18?
Going on a 1509 1.5d 6.7 will setup for ~1500watts on short burst runs of ~5-15 seconds.

Thanks,
Tony

What is printed or impressed on your blades? Does it say 17x18 or 17x13?

It has 17x18 model 5 printed on.
Not sure if the offset yoke verses non offset yoke changes the pitch.
I was hoping to run a non offset yoke verses buying a $50 offset spinner.

May be a mute point as on a new three cell 5000mah neu pack, the ICE CC controller says it draws ~160 amps at ~10.5v then shuts down as it is supposed to. Looks like I will be selling this prop and getting a smaller one.

Yes. An offset yoke will change it. A +3 offset will make it a 17X21.5. Zero offset and you will get what you see. As far as I know there are no negative offset spinners. If you need less pitch, just sell this one on RCG.

Mesa AZ, it's a dry heat!
Are you looking at a TWISTED yoke or and OFFSET yoke?

There is a big difference. An OFFSET yoke does require a special spinner. Both impose additional load on the motor and ESC, but with different goals.

The TWISTED yoke is intended to increase pitch, but the OFFSET yoke is intended to allow the blades to fold closer to the fuselage. The value of which is debatable.

RFM data say's, must use an offset yoke with these props.
I put these on a normal yoke and it looks like it works, but their statement "must" has me wondering, as I never have used these before.
Looks like I am going to put the prop up for sale and get a smaller pitch prop.
They do look nice.
