What a surprise this was & a great New Years present too, Yes! Parkzone has released the first of it's 2013's releases with an Ultra Micro P-40 Warhawk & this plane is a very scale looker, with a few extras too, like scale 3 blade prop and removable wheels with covers that latch back on for skid landings. Many thanks again to Mike from OMP Australia for supplying the Parkzone UM P-40 it's been a job to keep it under wraps waiting for the release date, but here it is for you to see, so sit back & watch this un-boxing, then keep an eye out for Part 1 & 2 of the Maiden flight

From 1941–1944, the P-40 Warhawk took the fight to the Axis on multiple fronts in a variety of roles. But no role is more famous than the one it played with the Flying Tigers in China. Officially dubbed the American Volunteer Group, the Flying Tigers earned their legendary nickname by using the P-40 with devastating effect against superior numbers of enemy aircraft. Their exploits, along with the menacing, shark-toothed grin they painted on their planes, made the P-40 an air combat icon.
This Ultra Micro Series model is a thrilling recreation of the P-40 that you can fly almost anywhere. It comes equipped with the advanced AS3X® (Artificial Stabilization – 3-aXis) System that works behind the scenes to smooth out the effects of turbulence and torque. You’ll feel like you’re flying an expertly tuned, giant-scale model that does exactly what you want. You can have this Bind-N-Fly® version flying in the time it takes to charge the battery and bind its receiver to a 4-channel DSM2®/DSMX® aircraft transmitter. It needs a pilot, brushless motor and a battery hatch like the spitfire.
But it does look good, at first glance I thought this was another Eflite P-40 outfitted with landing gear! Those removable landing gear covers look nice and the overall scale and detail is great! If only it came with a brushless motor! Then it would last longer than those brushed motors. |

There has always been a place in my heart for that version. Great picture BTW. I forgot who took it but I read his book. Pete |

Yes, tons of power is nice but when I fly my MiG followed by my Spit the speed difference look very appropriate. The full sized P-51 doesn't get up to full speed as soon as the wheels leave the ground so why should a model. The Spit takes a little more care to get on the step but it flies well. I use the scale prop without complaint. Pete |
