Actually, a new "Club Field Safety Plans and Insurance" thread would probably be a better place to start it. I'll pull my notes together and make a post soon. If someone else wants to start the thread in the meantime be my guest.

This post is a question to post #44.
There are lots of things you can attack, however, personal attacks are not allowed on this form.

And no, it doesn't matter who does that.

And as I said, in my opinion, this thread is simply a gossip thread as no information or specifics have been given to address, regarding safety issues... in other words, there is nothing to be learned from this tragic incident, as it stands right now.

Dave, wouldn't that also be useful information for every facet of this forum? Maybe it should be posted in the clubs forum? Or perhaps the information Chris has is somehow very glider centric or glider specific?

It would appear that Chris is going to start a new thread to post his information (note his post 63).

My view is misrepresented here.
My personal views are in line with what Don posted earlier.

Kenny, wasn't representing anyone. I hadn't read your posts BTW.

we all have our views and agrees to disagree.

On another note, I doubt the thread will be closed based on the OP, but more likely be closed due to bickering.

There is an appropriate place for this accident to be investigated (actually several places). No new details have been shared in this thread since the first post. This thread is just for rubbernecking.

According to the press article, investigations are taking place - by the local police - because there's potentially an "involuntary manslaughter" charge against the pilot - so dont expect to see any more details in public for a while yet. Meanwhile, that pilot also has to live with his glider being the cause of the death of another human being, and the family bereavment associated with that. I certainly wouldnt want to be in his shoes right now.

And I hope I'm not out of line in suggesting that anyone reading this thread hopes that they never get into this situation, and concentrates their own efforts to improve safety wherever possible.

As for rubbernecking, is that traditional high-start, or high-speed zip-start?

Phil.

It's definitely not an 'away from the public' flying site. There's a paved road right behind the pilots. You can see several park benches in between RCers. I'm sorry this happened, but a spectator has to know that when he enters RC airspace, he does so at his own risk.
