Look at them posh clamps!!! You can tell he's an American - us Brits would be using clothes pegs, cans of baked beans and elastic bands.....

LG = u/c I guess and please may I see what a scroll saw looks like. Had the same trouble with my x mounts too and building skills are vastly affected here due to eye sight and other stuff such as frozen hands still KBO keep up the good work cp. Brian M

One American scroll saw [fresh off the boat from China], coming up... Photo 1...

Yes, LG = UC. Landing Gear [sounds better than crashing gear, doesn't it?]

And for all you guys who are complaining about the weather in your locales, check out the extended (7-day) forecast for my neck of the woods. We're suffering miserably here... Temps are in Fahrenheit... Photo 2...

I haven't unpacked my sanding station yet... Photo 3...

Day 38 -- Undercarriage (or Landing Gear)

Photos 1-3 are for Sundancer. This is a good sign we're nearing completion.

I like real wooden aeroplanes!

That's a nice rendering of a very elegant little design Craig. Cyril Shaw always did create nice models, I have been looking at his appealing little "Fledgeling" 33" shoulder wing and wondering about a 2 x scale-up for a 300 watt motor I have without a home.

Just all the "fiddly bits" to do on the Envoy now!

The Fledgling is another pretty design. A 2X upscale shouldn't be that difficult; it appears to be "standard construction" as it is. That would give it a 67" wing...

that ties in nicely with my estimate of 400 W for the 2X Debutante at 80" span - must get started soon on that now that i have the plans printed off

Just in case anyone wants to see what a 2X Fledgling looks like...

In case anyone was wondering what George's next model looks like....

Just noticed...

It has virtually the same fuselage side trusses, except with all diagonals. Plenty of "carry over" from the Envoy...

Day 39 -- Wing Saddle

Photos 1 & 2 -- I cut this from 1/16" plywood, and removed most of it for access to the radio compartments. It's still very flimsy, but I think I can brace it up in the appropriate locations with some 3/32" or 1/8" fillers between the formers. That should also give me something to attach the tissue to.

Day 40 -- Fiddly Bits

Had a busy day today, didn't get to work on the model until well after dark. No photos tonight. Did manage to get a compromise elevator connector worked up using music wire and aluminum tubing, instead of CF tubing. This should be more than sufficient to connect the elevator halves. Cut the elevator away from the stabilizer frame and cut a slot for the connector. Epoxy tomorrow.
