They're in California, I believe.

Xheli, nitroplanes, hobbypartz are all the same company and are located in California. I have had no serious problems with them. I order from Hobbypartz all the time. The 9x I got from them over a year ago was a v1 which makes soldering in connections for ER9X firmware a bit more difficult. I have heard that they are now selling v2 9xs. Either way, the 9X really needs ER9X to shine.

+1 on the ER9X firmware

And if you don't want to solder, buy a smartieparts board. It installs with no soldering required.

Yes, ever since starting RC flying, bright orange has gotten to be a favorite color of mine. Too bad orange props are not made for the X1.

It's my understanding that the Turnigy is re branding of the Flysky. They are the same radio. I got mine from Hobbypartz last week. Seems to be the same.

Pretty sure. The pictures show the transmit module already installed. You also get a receiver in this kit so it doesn't make sense that they wouldn't also include the transmit module, right?

@dmzim : Hey, here's the official FlySky (e.g. Turnigy 9x, TH9X, etc...) 9x transmitter thread:

https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1035575

why don't you pop over there and post your question? You should be able to get some good responses about the radio there.

The module that comes in the radio binds with the X-1.

Are folks able to measure the range using the 9X? That is, is the range significantly longer than 120-140 or so using the better radios?

Haven't tested with x1 yet but I tested my v911 helicopter to 400 meters with my 9x.

Yes, that is a rebranded T9X and it has a module with the stupidest antenna setup ever but it will work fine for now, you can fix the antenna later.

I haven't done a real range test but with the 9x I haven't lost signal yet.

I bound my er9x to my X1, I used the standard "Simple 4ch" template and had to reverse the elevator, switch AIL to ch1 and RUD to ch4 (I fly mode 2). Works excellent, range vastly improved (350 feet vertical), no flips, but I am over that already. The larger Tx just feel better with larger smoother sticks and with ~20 hours on time with the 2S 18650 3000mAH cells, no replacing AA's.

Thanks for your guys help.
