I think I need to bump this one. Very interesting to see the different methods that people are coming up with to transport planes.

Ok so I finally bought the material and this is what I came up with. It fits between the wheel wells of my silverado.

Have not run it in the pickup yet, I think I need some straps or something across the planes to keep them on the rack at highway speeds.

have not decided on the top yet. I think I want to join the 2 uprights for more stability.

2... 3/4 x 10 ft pvc $4.76
1... bag of 10 3/4 T's $2.73
4... 3/4 90 deg $1.68
1... primer & glue $7.99
1... 3/4 6ft foam $1.18

right now its 34 high 32 long and 29 wide
might be taller depending on how I finish the top.

Made a video

So I didn't think pictures would do it justice.

Didn't want to use bungee or other to hold the planes while in the back of the pickup. So I came up with these adj hold downs out of pvc. I have driven 60 + mph and had no problems. But I do worry about the force of the wind on the elevator servos over time.

Transport rc planes (1 min 2 sec)

I get lots of interest at the field, so far no one else has made one for themselves.
Makes a great stand at the field:
take the stand and planes out of the truck in one move
easy to keep the planes in the shade under the easy up canopy
very hard to have someone step on your planes

Sloping off....

If you pack em in tight enough, they sort of interlock and don;t need any ancillary racking or any of that sort of thing
