Build Log

Tri Fighter....TF-12 RONIN

All right guys here we go ! Welcome to the build log for the Rogue Airforce Tri Fighter....or to be better known as the RA TF-12 Ronin. This jet is a hybrid w/aspects of several different fighters incorporated into it's design. It is running 3 -55mm edf units through 3 seperate 25-30a ESCs. Will have a seperate BEC. Haven't decided on 1 -14.8V or 3-11.2V batteries. All equip specs and watt draw and such will come, but for now I can tell you that all 3 units do work and I am about to start plan layout and foam lamination. It will be a $Tree bird like the late Bandit. The Ronin has twin verts and flying horz. Each unit is ducted seperately.

Space1....it's called saving some weight. I can always add power with more batteries later, as long as I know it flies FIRST ! ANNNNDDDD if a motor needs only a 20a esc and I use a 25-30...that's should be enough over to keep it safe.

I also do have 2 2200mah 30-40 c 3s batteries coming. I have heard everything from ,"1 will work fine ' to "you HAVE to have 3" I have found out that the HK edf55mm w/4300kv can handle 4s.

more packs run cooler than a single. that's an advantage to running more than one. another advantage to running multiple packs, is that the draw puts less strain on them, than it would on a single pack. this extends the life of your packs.

I do understand the multiple packs for the draw and running cooler. That's why I was everywhere on the internet looking for answers. I got waayyy too many varying OPINIONS, and not enough DEFINATE ANSWERS. I will test out both set-ups and see which performs the best for the weight. I really wish I could've used 1 battery and 1 esc to run everything, but I know that isn't possible either. It's the power/weight game. LOL

All parts cut out. Still have to modify and cut out several others, but now have starting points for assembly.

Started the power system set up today. I have the 3 -55mm units w/4300kv brushless outrunners. 3 - 25/30amp ESCs and a 3amp BEC .I have disabled the power wires on the ESCs to use the BEC. My batteries are 3-11.1V 2200mah 3s . Here is where I have more questions. Should I wire the 3 batteries in parallel through a connector ....or just connect each seperately.

I fixed my typos on last post...I have 3 -11.1V 2200mah 3s batteries , and I will be making a parallel "Y" connector.
