Oh My GAWD Pat, what an AWESOME idea! That is brilliant!
That's another Must-Have in my fleet. Brings back so many childhood memories!

Is this going to be kitted???

(This is Tony, by the way...)

Actually, I have given some serious though to offering the 404 as a Short Kit. Once I know it flies, I'll button up the plans and we'll take it from there.

Pat, what's the wing area, and how much does it weigh, if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks.
I'll bet it'll fly great! I would love to see it in person.

Builder, The CG set up perfectly without additional balast, so in the end, the all up weight with the 250 mah 2S battery came in at 3.3 oz. With the wing area of 126 Sq. In., it puts the wing loading at about 4.2 oz./ Sq. Ft. Should do OK that lightly loaded, and at full throttle it feels like there will be more then enough power to get the job done.

Meanwhile, it's 9 gegrees out this morning with a high of 28 forcast with winds in the mid teens. Doesn't look like today will be the day. But Thursday and Friday are looking more promising, so will look on toward the end of the week.

We are having the same frigid weather here too. But I hear by this weekend it'll warm up for us.

The weight and wing loading sound great! I'm anxious to hear about the flight report. Just wish I could be there for it.

Sorry I didn't get posted up sooner, but I snuck out between squalls and got a couple of terrific test/trim flights on the AJ. Turns out its a very gentle flyer -- not surprizing considering the size & weight of the model. Now that it's done and I know it works I'll get busy and finish up the plans and see about launching a short kit. Meanwhile, since it was a spur of the moment flight I went alone so wasn't able to get any in-flight shots. Once the kits are done I might just have to build one of my own and will get some pics of that one.

Glad to hear that the test flight went well. Hope you get it wrapped up soon as I think I might need one. Sigh, here we go again. Hopefully the weather will get better here soon so I can get the Agcat in the air!!

Great! I knew it would fly good.
It's such a nostalgic airplane that I don't just want one, I have to have one. I'll see you next week. I can't wait to see the AJ when I'm in town!
(The One-For-Tea I'm building is going well, but I am not entirely sure it will be all done in time. Maybe I'll bring it and work on it in the hotel).

Dymond sells their little Bee outrunner that's about the size of a crystal and puts out 2.9 ounces of thrust using either a 6x3 or a 4.5x4.5 prop. I was thinking about going that route with mine.
