LOL Know what ya mean. The panels turned out nice enough to make up for the ailerons.

The ailerons are rebuilt. Waiting for epoxy to cure on the control horn ply plate. When it's dry I will add the horns and be done with the rebuild.

Let's see: So, 2 mis-built ailerons = 1 "oh ". 2 rebuilt ailerons = 1 "atta-boy". So see, you're even!

ROTFLMAO
Cool thing is, in the process of redoing I got a better mechanical fit of the C/F control horn. The thing that the rod between the ailerons connect to, whatever it is called

It's good that you trust us enough to tell us about your mistakes, and how you fixed them..

If I ever make a mistake, I'll give it a try...........lol.

Seriously, I'm loving the build..I only ever built the S-2 Pitts, but I'm right there with you.

Earl, mistakes are a fact of life. And if by sharing I help someone else in their endeavour then it's all good.
Ok! The bottom ailerons are done, except for a final sanding.
QUESTION! Does anyone know what the control throws are. I have set it up at the RC Guys Pitts throw of 1/2" and it seems about right for the wing area along with four ailerons.
On to the top wing! Cross your fingers. LOL

Top ailerons have been cut out and L/T edge added. When dry I can add the hinges and control horn.

The top wing is done. And the magnets for the cowl came while finishing up the wing. So, onto the cowl mount.

Aileron throws of about 1/2" is a good place to start...If I remember correctly..

When I flew mine, NOTHING rolled fast enough ! I've slowed a little, myself.

Thank's. I'll set three rates 3/8, 1/2, and 5/8. Hopefully that will give me from mild to wild. Of course low rates for the maiden.

The cowl block's are made and ready for the magnets. Then installing onto cowl.
I'll get to that tomorrow. I'm calling it a day. Maybe?

The magnet's have been epoxied into their block's. I will give them a full 24 hours before finishing up the mount.

I have been going over this thing double checking and verifying what has been done and what is left to do. And if the cowl works out tomorrow it's ready for a final sanding and covering. And here I sit needing some fabric. It will have to wait for two weeks before I can order some. Going tomorrow to buy the youngest son a vehicle so I'll be a bit down on funds. But the bright side is it will only be two weeks.

A little time off will rejuvenate you. You've been hard at it for a while.I'd like to recommend looking for a spray can of zinc chromate primer for the aluminum sheets.
I didn't use the correct primer, and years later the paint cracked and peeled back in several places...When getting ready for the repaint, I found corroded places...It probably wouldn't have happened if I had used the "good stuff".

On the other ones, I used 1/32 " plywood....I can deal with wood.
