Yep I have about 6 flights on it.....she is nice. FAST bird and glides forever with 4S 4000. I really like her, but have not had a chance to fly in calm air yet....I am sure I will like here even more. For the price it is great.

I have a couple of their balsa EP models from their other company, The World Models.
http://theworldmodels.com/
(US distributor: http://airborne-models.com/ )

They appear to have a very similar plane, called the Sunrise, 2 color trims available, which is under their free global shipping promotion ... Plane only or combo

http://ecsvr.com/twm/shopexd.asp?id=5832

(I just bought a Corsair combo along with some other parts (servos, Lipo sacks) from the free shipping list...turned out to be less than buying from their US distributor)

I have two of their planes. They're made real good. My sunrise has hundreds of flights. Handyman has about 50. I like the prize, size and performance.
Only complaint I have is slight wing flex under load in sunrise and handyman's intolerance to cg shift. Variation of 1/4 of an inch in battery placement will make the plane misbehave.

Thanks guys, I'm looking for a EPO 50" pattern plane to bang around at home. The Commander looks nicer than the HK Rainbow, any others out there??

Based on my dealings with Airborne Models, I would recommend them over anything from HK. Great support and parts availability.

Just ordered the Commander 40 EP from Airborne-Models.com.
Looking forward to the end of winter ... As I prepare for 24" of snow this weekend

OK, correction 36" of snow predicted

Just received Paypal confirmation of order. Did "one stop shopping" ... plane, servos, motor, motor mount, ESC and servos ... all TWM parts. $20 shipping seemed very reasonable.

Interesting to see how this one compares to the Super Taiji 40 EP.
EPO vs Balsa, yet the have the same wingspan, wing loading and AUW.

Probably going to do something similar to the Taiji EP on the bottom of the wings, a bit more visible than the stripes IMHO.

Has anyone putt a watt meter on the stock setup? Wondering if the recommended 40A ESC is adequate?

FWIW, as part of my one stop shopping, I ordered their ESC

http://ecsvr.com/abm/ShopDisplayproducts.asp?Search=Yes

Brushless Electronic Speed Controller KC2040A02A
Specification / Size: 55 x 28 x 12 mm. Package: 1 pc/pkg. Details: - Continuous Current: 40A - Burst Current (<10 seconds): 55A - BEC Output: 3A - Input: Li-ion / Li-poly 2 5 cells or Ni-mh / Ni-cd 5 15 cells - Weight: 33g with wires $35.00

It seems to have sufficient margin based on the specs for the supplied motor:

Brushless Motor KM0374810
Specification / Size: D37.2 x 48.5 mm. Package: 1 pc/pkg. -Max Speed: 13860rpm. -Kv (rpm/V): 770. -Operating Power: 450W. -Operating Voltage: 8.5-18V. -Operating Current: 30A. -Peak Current: 38A (max. 15 sec.). -Internal Resistance: 34 m ohms. -Diameter: 37.2mm. -Length: 48.5mm. -Weight: 172g. -Shaft Diameter: 5mm. -Mounting Screw: M3 (Front) and M2.5 (Back). -Distance of Mounting Holes: 25mm (Front), 15.5mm (Back).

Once I receive the kit (hopefully tomorrow, but perhaps delayed due to the winter storm) and get a battery, I will take an actual wattmeter reading and post it here.

Also probably going to not use the supplied decals. Instead, I am considering going with a paint scheme, derived from some old classic pattern planes I remember from "back in the day".

Testors enamel spray cans, nothing fancy, just for fun.
