What is the Best Brushless motor and ESC for my Corona?

Is there a consensus on this?

Where is the best place to buy it? Price wise?

Depends on your definition of "best". It seems that the Hacker C40-12S is "standard" for super-high power. The Mega 16/15/3 is popular because it is very inexpensive. Others are running Aveox and Astroflight, but it seems the Hacker and Mega are what most people are flying.

A man with too many toys
I like the Mega 16/15/3 and Phoenix 35 the best. Those more expensive setups are overkill and really donít improve the performance.

With most helicopters, including the Corona, the battery is one of the most important parts of the propulsion system.

All i am going to say is do a search and see all the problems people have with Phoenix CC ESCs and then decide if you want to buy that... i know i wouldnt.. others will chime in and tell you the same..

with that said.. i have had a Hacker C40-12s and Hacker MASTER HELICOPTER 40-3P BEC and i have not to this day had one single glitch or problem.. I built my corona in late Jan 03 and still going strong.. I got all my stuff from NipponDave at www.aircraft-world.com , shipping was only $2.50 and I received my stuff within 5 days... cant beat that..

so please do yourself a favor and do some research before you jump the gun and order parts.. believe me you will be better off.. Go with what you can afford but get the best that you can.. The Mega combo is a good combo as well.. there are others too..

good luck.. you are going to love Brushless

If you want to run on 3S lipos, don't forget the mega 1/15/4. Works out much better.

I for one, have had real good luck with phoenix controllers, other than an infant death once. And the support is unbelievable!

I love mine on the 020.. However, I bought it used.. I think had I bought it new, I would have gone Mega, simply because seems more people are running them..

I tried both the CC 35 and Hacker Master ESC with the C40-12s motor in a corona. The HM was smoother.

I bought the Mega and CC35 combo. I would have bought the "newer" AstroFlight 020 but didn't like what I was hearing from the local distributors about support and responsiveness... I also wasn't convinced the Astro 020 had all it's problems solved, USA-made, heatsink or not. I hope they are, it seems like the best buy for only $16 more than the Mega combo. I don't think I've read more than maybe one complaint about a Hacker!

Realy? I've been scanning the forum for several weeks while contemplating a brushless motor for my Corona and I haven't noticed a lot of Hacker problems. I've seen a few complaints about CC speed controls, though - some on Hacker's some on other motors.

That's exactly what I meant. Few, if any, complaints about Hackers. Sorry if I was unclear.
