If you're running a lower kv motor, you'll want a bigger pinion to get some speed back.

I ordered the 10300kv motor. Its on backorder ao the project is on hold ffor a while.

Ah, gotcha. Good call on the pinion then!

Yeah, I knew it was going to be too fast, so I guessed. You think that's a good choice? I still want to be able to do some crazy speed runs sometimes. Also, I think I need to upgrade this to bearings, no? I guess I need front spindles and a bearing kit. Does anyone make a decent bumper for this thing? The micro DT bumper is too small to protect it.

You shouldn't need front spindles to add bearings. I had bearings in mine without needing other parts.

Buy the axles with nuts while you're at it, you'll thank yourself many times over later.

+1

Those clips are fine, as long as you never take the wheels off.

Yeah, I don't plan too, but still, what tool is best used for the clips?

A small screwdriver, and remove them inside a big ziplock back so if the clip flies off it's contained.

OK, been waiting about 3 months now for that backorder motor. What a waste of time. I cancelled it today. looks like they have a new version now but it's out of stock as well. Typical. And the pinion I ordered was wrong anyway. These motors all use 1.5mm pinion and HK stocks 2mm but only 9T in 1.5mm. So I still need a motor and refuse to pay $30 for it. If I use Losi parts what's the point!?!?

In other news, I did get an HXT500 to work with just the mounting screw mounted from the bottom of the servo arm.

Hi, the HK motor the pinion will be a little loose on the shaft.
My way to solve this is: get a small piece of heat shrink and put around the shaft, then press the pinion on it, to finish cut the heat shrink that exceeds the pinion.

thanks!
