revival of an oldie - need advice on motor/esc

I've got an old Kyosho Jetstream 26" hull brushed 540 motor boat. It has not been used in 10 years. i want to put a brushless motor & new esc in it to make it hum. I also want to use a motor with the same mounting screw holes as the 540 motor.

was going to use this but have no idea if the mounting holes will line up:

what do you guys recommend doing? Thanks in advance!

How high will it go?

I believe that is too small. You need a motor in the 36mm can range, or a 500 class outrunner. Careful, it will be more than twice the power of the stock setup.

Boaters are nice people.
Hi helinorthwest,

Welcome on this forum!

As Antslake pointed out, the motor is on the small side, at least for direct drive.
If you use the geared reduction these boats came with, it should work, giving you 21.000 rpm on the prop when the reduction is 1:2.

Keep in mind that the design of the Jetstream isn't suitable for blistering speed, the steering outdrive won't handle much more power before it'll desintegrate...

Regards, Jan.
