Chrome Vinyl Wrap

Has anybody tried or thought about this type of product or like it on your airplanes/jets.

The chrome would be sick and probably a lot easier to apply then flight metal or any type like it, just dont know about doing individual panels.

What do you think??? Lets hear your 2cents.

Repositional sounds good. I've trimmed windscreens frames with aluminum tape strips and if stuck where not wanted, is near impossible to get off.

Not necessarily cheap at $6+ a square foot, but if it's what you are looking for.....Well what can I say

Some pretty neat colors. I like the green myself

Here in Aus i bought a roll of signage chrome vinyl to cover my funjet.
Was about $20 a roll which will last 30ish planes.

This is the stuff. Quite happy with it. Not sure on long term durability but its cheap so worth a try.

It's probably too heavy to be used on any but the more powerful planes, butI can think of a few non aero uses for it (my bicycle helmet, for example).

It is only a bit thicker that packing tape and a bit see through but with white behind its fine. It sticks ok to foam but sticks great to itself so i just overlap all joints. I agree i wouldnt use it on an indoor plane though.

I experimented by covering an FMS Mustang in silver vinyl to cover the foam texture. Unfortunately, the texture showed through. For fun fly kits, it's fine but for scale projects, it's a huge amount of work with mediocre results.

Instead, I opted for a thin adhesive aluminum and added it panel by panel. The texture does need a thin fiberglass layer to harden the surface with a total weight penalty of around ~7oz.
