ConAir featured a C-123 Provider, designed by the same guy, Michael Stroukoff. He didn't have the capacity to build the C-123 so the Air Force bought the 123 out and gave it to Fairchild.

I remember my Dad looking at a B36 model and wondering why American aircraft had such large vertical tails...I wonder what he would have made of the C-123?

I'm late with this and apologise - XeCutor has successfully flown his Hacker J3 Cub a number of times. Posts #1 and #2 have been updated.

Well, i'm still sloooowly going on with my Spitfire. I'm done covering and the cockpit is finished so basically only glueing on the various plastic parts and paint is missing.

Still, the weather is not exactly maiden-friendly: constant strong winds and snowfall every day.

I think that the only other active thread is milesperpound's B25 Mitchell, which is ready to fly but snow-bound.

This is true Mike, gupi I feel your pain. I actually had a shot this morning but the hardpack was just not smooth enough. Did a couple of taxi rolls but just got bounced around too much. It would have been worse with landing as the snow is very abrasive. Not a good mix with tissue covering .

Anyway the Mitchell is at the ready, 15 days left. If we get some soft snow and wind below 10KTs I will toss her. Probably be February 29th Ha ha...

Nice job on the finished and flown entries. been fun watching these models come together.

Best,

Mark

Those planes look really good. You need a light dusting of powder, then a windless sunny day!

Beautiful planes indeed. Hope you get some nice weather so you can maiden the B25 before the contest ends.

I had the chance to fly the Skua today, during my lunch period. It was cold but winds were very light. I completed a really good flight... it cheered me greatly during a really tough emotional time I'm passing through... but the prop lost a blade on landing. Perhaps the cold made it brittle. I was thinking about changing props but freezing rain began to fall and I gave up.

I have greatly enjoyed everyone's work. My next build will be better because of your examples, and I am very honored to have worked alongside you.

My enlarged Beaver is on hold as I am in China at the moment. I will return on the 26th of this month. I feel bad about not being finished in time. I have enjoyed the contest and talking with the other builders. I am new to this hobby, and contests like this help me learn much from others.

Mike,

Thanks for the kind words. I am anxious to get home and begin working on it again. I don't much care for the airfoil design that came with the plans, but it is an easy model to scale up, very simple design. I look forward to finishing it, and will be posting again soon.

I like these contests, and learn a lot from them. I hope there will be another one. Contests help me push myself!

Conrad
