Tricopter 2.6: Excellent anti-vibration mount

I just finished modifying my FPV Manuals tricopter by adding David Windestål's RCExplorer 2.6 version anti vibration mount. The results were excellent!

My Canon S95 camera is very sensitive to vibrations. Before now I could never get it to take clear multicopter AP photos, not even when mounted to my Y6 with AV130 gimbal.

I happened across David's Tricopter 2.6 artical here, http://rcexplorer.se/projects/2012/0...copter-v2-6hv/, and I thought, "Hmmm, that looks like it could be worth trying."

A few hours later, my Tricopter 2.6 was ready to fly! I fabricated the mounts from 1/16" ply, instead of the carbon David used, and I used 1/16" music wire for the dampers.

The verdict? I went from getting almost no usable photos with my S95, to having all my pictures come out crystal clear! I am thrilled.

My copter lifts the S95 just fine with 2213n motors, and I get about 7 minutes on a 2200 mah 3 cell battery.

Here are some shots of my tricopter, and a couple of samples from my first outing with the 2.6 damping system.

KK2 controller , 1.5 firmware
HK F-30 escs, Simonk flashed.
2213n motors
10x4.5 props
6 ch HK Orangerx receiver
Turnigy Nanotech 2200 3C battery
Hextronic D-MG16 servo
Canon S95 camera

If you can put a heavier battery on there aswell it will work even better.
Your flight times will increase too.
I'm loving the 2.6 4s powered one I made.
Keep having fun.
Thanks for posting.

Thanks TL. I've been thinking about a motor and battery upgrade, but for now, my tricopter is flying pretty well with the gear it's already got.

Let's see your 4S 2.6!

Could you say where you got your wire for this build? I tried making this mount with some .047in music wire from the local hobby store but it isn't working right. Was very difficult to bend into the right shape and the mount just seems to make larger and lower frequency vibrations than those on the rest of the tricopter. Thanks and great build!

thanks, I think I'll try some 1.5mm wire. Don't know how David Windestål bent his so perfectly in the new build...
