We'll run the Half Pint contest for a few rounds on Friday afternoon somtime. Play the sound track for a few rounds, and anybody with a sub-1.5 meter plane (we're thinking Apogee, Gambler, Elf, Mimi type stuff, 50" and under) can join in the fun. We'll do half pint glasses for trophies. You'll also be welcome to fly full size DLG for practice, we just won't score you.

Is the Quality Inn where we all stayed last year? If so, the special rate had better be less than the cost of a cheeseburger. That place was nasty.

Ok east coasters who is going and how do you get there?? I need to make it this year. Kyle, Dick, Oleg, Reto, Phil, Jim? Driving, flying, carpool? Flying in the cold is fun but kicking ass in less than expedition gear sounds great. Hope to be there.

Pm me if you have space.

This year's my chance!

Count me in. I've been wanting to get to a San Felasco since they started, and this looks like my chance.

I'm looking for a motel. I see that a few days ago someone reported a bedbug problem at the Quality Inn. Who knows more about the EconoLodge or other local places? Jeff? you seem to know about all of them. Details? Are the rest bedbug sanctuaries too? I'd sure hate to have bedbugs infesting my stuff. Or maybe the Quality has since had their place roasted to 140 degrees F to eliminate the problem.

Someone might suggest that I could just leave everything outside overnight in Duluth when arriving home, but this winter promises to be warm like last winter was (disappointing, that), and anyway I'm scheduled to be in Florida the next week too.

Thus, I'll be looking for more flying opportunities in the state, in case anyone has any suggestions. Any will be appreciated. My wife and I will be wandering the state after Monday the 18th (the last day of her weekend conference in Tampa) enjoying the warm weather, which I note has already been officially ordered for the weekend and it might carry over, so we can make up a schedule on whim.

Looking forward to seeing you guys in February!

"bedbug problem at the Quality Inn"
Where'd you hear that? It's the first I've heard of it and I stayed there last year.I will admit the pool was a bit "shallow",however after libations at the Mexican restaurant everything seemed a little "rosy" and insignificant in nature

Here's the URL Allan:

http://www.reservationcounter.com/ho...hotelid=128643

To get this I googled Quality Inn Alachua, FL and got a list of sites. Clicked on the second one. It directed me to the "reservation counter." Clicked on that and got the URL above, and down the page three most recent reviews are mentioned, the first one about bedbugs. I clicked on the "Read Reviews" label.

This could just be a mean and nasty person making trouble, but I also checked:

http://bedbugregistry.com/hotel/FL/A...it-399-Alachua

It's even more interesting.

As for the Econolodge in Alachua:

The BedBugRegistry says:
Econo Lodge Alachua
15920 Nw Us-441
Alachua, FL 32615-4890
There are no bedbug encounters on record for this address.

I'm inclined to choose the Econolodge or some place other than the Quality Inn, but since I'm only able so far to do my research from afar, I appreciate reports like yours that are based on direct experience. Also, it might be only one room or two, but I don't want to lodge in one of those if I can help it.

Al
