L A Ming,

Thank you very much!

It went well.

The Smoothie flies well, but needs a better pilot.

I managed about five loops in three flights and had enough for the morning.

I am getting excellent help/information from the guys as Whittier.

After the Smoothie flights, I went over to fly R/C Helicopters to calm down...(not kidding!).

Sorry I missed it! My wife and I were spending the wee hours welcoming our new Grandaughter!

The Smoothie has to be a big change over the WenMacs!

Sharp looking airplane, Ah Clem! Congrats on a successful (read: didn't crash) maiden flight! Quite a difference from a vintage plastic airplane, eh?

L A Ming,

Thank you very much, sir! I have to tell you, I was a bit nervous.

Yes, much easier to fly than the plastic RTF's and, of course, much, much higher performance.

No dizziness either, on 60' lines!

I just need a lot more practice and to learn how to tune the airplane-I suspect that an experienced modeler would be able to tune it for even better performance (balance, throws, etc.). I need to learn how to fly it properly too. I have a long way to go.

That's a beauty! How did you make those nice wing fillets?

I think it was Don from Whittier Narrows who told me to use Micro Balloons and epoxy. It worked great!

I am trying to learn all I can from those guys. There is a huge amount of knowledge there.

I have a video of his Smoothie in flight (he flies extremely well), but it would not upload. I will make another attempt.

My 1952 Smoothie

Here is my 1952 plans built Smoothie yet to fly. It is powered with a OS 40fp. I made a homemade tongue muffler from Duo-Bro exhaust extension stock. Have yet to run it so can't comment as to it's effectivnes. I am going to give ukie a try again after 40 plus years layoff. Logair8452

Yes. I was a bush leaguer flying a McCoy 40 black head on a Voodoo when I hooked up with the Sky Burners CL club near L. A. in 1975. A vast amount of CL information from some of the best CL flyers in the world.

Well, my new Smoothie is on the way (to replace the one I demolished).

Looking forward to having one again.
