try both and tell me which works best.....I did have done both cg below and above the thrust line...... there's a reason I promote mass above the thrust line.

with your weight hanging below...imagine you want to move forward.....so you tilt your motors forward......what happens ?

motors pitch forward , causing the frame to tilt back , requiring tilting the motors even further forward.

watch the vid of any pendulum style bicopter and watch the little wobble that happens before they move

ritchie does some cool builds

well this thread has inspired me to build another bicopter
just making the motor mount/tilt mechs now, will only have 2kg of thrust available so need to keep the weight down, will post up some progress pic's

You speak about 2kg thrust like its nothing.
Mine will only have 1.5kg thrust and I expect to not go past 650 grams all up in weight.
Surely a 2:1 ratio is enough?

Are you building 4 footers?

um.. yeah, I can make that fly

:P. My one will have 8Kg of thrust. I ended up ordering bigger motors in the end. Thoes Turnigy aero drive ones seem to have a reputation for the magnets coming loose. So I went for an SK3 in the end.

Neither can I. Though there is alot of design to be done between now and then. I've got some 5mm stainless steel rod coming which will be the pivot point for my motors. They'll be floating on two or three bearings each. I think I may scrap the 3D printed gearing arrangement in favour of sturdy ball link pushrods. The fuselage design is also still in its infancy. Watch this space :P. Things will start to appear as the parts show up from china .

Oh and for what it's worth. I think 1.4/1 static thrust to weight ratio is probibally as low as you want to go for a multirotor under 2Kg.

Too bad this is an unobtainable concept.

Not enough bodywork behind the pod to balance it out.
