It's been quite a while without fire reports

It's been quiet here and on other sites lately. No fire reports in months. I might even start to miss the heated (pun intended) debates over those issues. Not the fires though.

It's good to see that Castle has solved the issues. Their controllers are good.

A man with too many toys
I have not had any problems and I have not seen any CC ESC failures all summer. Looks like they are now as reliable as other brands.

I wonder if the backlog at customer service is finally cleared out. I hope they are back to the 1-2 day repair service like they were a few years ago.

Funny you should say that... my friend had an ESC fire just yesteday with an Ice 75. Thankfully he landed as soon as the magic smoke was released and we hit the plane with a fire extingusher. Minimal damage to the plane and the battery even seems okay but the ESC is a charred hunk of PCB and heatsink. I've got hundreds of flights on dozens of Castle ESCs and I've never had a problem. This happened on his maiden flight which was very strange.

What was the manufacture date on the ESC?

Good question. I'll have to ask my friend. I know it was new, i.e. unused but I'm not sure how long he's had it.

Spoke with my friend and he bought it from a fellow club member, who purchased it new about 6 months ago from a retailer. It was unused before Sunday.

I actually bought it back in June from a club member who is a retailer.

It made a pretty fire - I wanted to roast marshmallows over it, but Mike beat me to the plane with the extinguisher.
