Actually, when paired with the new GoPro Hero3, this can be a great little package, even for "pro" users. I've been playing with the H3's 2.7k/30p mode and I'm amazed at how much you can do in post, without losing any resolution for full 1080p output. With a higher-end stabilization plug-in, like Mercalli, you can totally remove platform-related movement, and eliminate the fisheye effect, plus do color correction and then downscale the output to 1080/30p, without any degradation. Anyway, this new camera is a game changer, and I can see this new platform as something that can actually be useful in certain scenarios where you wouldn't want to use something bigger, like for indoor shots.

When I first saw an "estimate" of the price of the Phantom I was shocked. Then I figured out the cost of a similarly equipped FW450 (mine). When you factor in the cost of the Tx/Rx, lipos and lights. The Phantom is slightly cheaper because is using a dedicated Tx instead of one of the all-aircraft Spektum Tx units and is probably also using a dedicated Rx. The down side is you have to spend the money all at once.

If the estimates are about right it's not a bad price for naza+gps, quad, charger tx etc.

Price not bad, even included GPS, battery, fixed camera mount and landing gear...
But also concern about the material of the body and weight...Fiberglass, bullet proof material (Polycarbonate) or KYDEX?

We all seen Phantom is a single body except the landing gear, which means once you crashed your quad and break the arm, you will need to change a new body. Not like DEX quad, it's arm is build to be crashed. On top of that, it is waterproof or just rain proof?

One more thing, will DJI consider to launch a cheaper version baby zenmuse (2-axis camera mount for GOPRO) in the future?

It looks like the FPV folks will have to use a bit of creativity to mount a psuedo-dome to house their gear. That should not be too hard. One thing I did not see on the transmitter is a timer or a way to set one. Perhaps it is internal to the Tx. I suspect the USB port to set up the GPS is internal to the Phantom.

The Naza has two levels of battery warning. Not that it is great but it has them. The real point of this quad is that it is ready to fly. Charge the battery, put 4 AA batteries in the Tx and go fly. If you looking to FPV you are probably going to buy a F450 or similar.

tc3wins, I saw $699 but I can't remember where. It could have been on a retailers site or MRF.

In the video they say it will be considerably less than $1000 so it could be $699.

Not sure why shops are taking pre-orders before the price is even official.

No I buy from Empire and not direct so not considered a "key dealer".
They only send samples to dealers who buy direct.
That would be the dealers listed on there site.

Maybe Robert has one.
