I used the Phantom to film my own heli flight today, worked out pretty good! The GPS hold works extremely well, even in the moderate wind we had today.

Just trying to get both in the video. The Phantom TX and RX are so low nothing will happen doing that.

I really wasn't interested in disconnecting the battery with the props attached considering it was locking up in any throttle position.

Not to mention, I spent at least 15 minutes each balancing the motors with no props at half throttle without issues. I'm assuming since you do not run your motors without props you never balance your motors?

I have deleted the video so it doesn't cause anymore question.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone accomplish what you just did.
You are truly a "one man band"!
Nice...

Phantom In Wind

As I previously reported, I'm still trying the "out of the box" settings to test the air-worthiness of the Phantom in the hands of a total novice.
And I'm a little above that...
I have still not connected to the Assistant, so IOC is not active.
The rain and fog left our area today allowing an afternoon at the field.
At times, the wind was 20mph with gusts of ~25mph.
All RC planes at my club field were grounded.
I put the Phantom up, and Atti flying was really interesting.
Didn't try it very long...
In GPS, the Phantom could hold its own, but the gusts would really slam it away from the GPS position.
I finally found myself having to use RH stick inputs to help the Phantom back into position, but it was only minor adjusting during the gusts.
I'm afraid about 20mph is the best the "out of the box" gains will be able to deal with.
That's still pretty good IMO.
And, I would hope that a newbee would not be tempted to fly in that much wind.
But over on my hilltop... "The Wind Is Your Friend!"

Sindey: Since I was having to assist GPS hold, I elected not to try RTH today.
Maybe next weekend...

Yeah, you are probably right ..... I have 15 mph wind and gust to 20. I finally up the gain from 125 to 145 the other day.
