arizona jet rally

lot's of fun in the desert this weekend. thanks go to bob ruff who was a great host for us e jet guys!
perfect weather all three days. the rog edf's flew all day every day. us bungee guys didn't get alot of flights in, due mostly to placement of the launcher's in relation to the flight line. but i think the compromise worked ok and next year we should get all the flights we desire.
a list of some of the e zone pilots:
steve neuflying the jepe f16, awsome and his a4
steve m. flying the xb70, very cool
bob ruff flying the f86 rog, nice and a10 etc.
ed waldrep flying his raptor, very nice.
lot's of edf's.
i brought the f18 and the mig.
the fastest edf there; steve's jepe lit up the sky! my mig probably 10mph slower. but they were both faster than any of the gdf's.
i'll post some pic's later, need to unpack first..............gregg

Arizona Jet Rally

It was a blast having you guys here. There were more EDF than glow power jets, still alot of turbines. Got many flights in over the three days. The F-86 flew great (finally looped it from level flight), A-10 great as ever and the HE-162 flew great. All the EDF's there were impressing the other pilots, even Bob Violett came down to the EDF area. See you in San Diego. Thanks to the Arizone Model Aviators for a great show.

Roger all the above, plus don't forget Tony Francoiawk's (sp?) way cool B-47. This thing had scale looking retracts, (4) mini-fans (plus 2 dummy motors), unknown motor types and cells. It flew quite scale like. Tony is a well known expert modeler who also flew a gorgeous turbine powered MIG-15/17. The fact that he'd try a EDF shows how far we've come. I'm sure the B-47 was easier to get running than the MIG!

I personally found flying among the glow and turbine models a bit unnerving. What we need is an EDF jet rally more accomodating to bungees and skid landings. How about it all?

P.S. to Greg : Thanks for the use of your bungee!
