Thanks for the input. Just read your old post from 2004:

https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...59&postcount=2

i.e. the Walkera clone was offered at the same time as the original MPX Sonicliner.

Now if a new versions could have a couple of edf's...... Also today's computer radios could make it a little more fun to play with.
Reverse engineer it. Make it something for scratch builders. It would not need to be a copy any more than Piper's Cub was a copy of Taylor's craft.

What can today's computer radios do, what the computer radios from 2003 to 2006 could not?

That's awesome, Pete! Can you share any pictures? Do you still fly it on nickel batteries?

Sonic liners !.

Left to right.

1- This one has a snake skin finish on it. Its uses two speed 480's and flys just fine.....over 100 flites so far on her.
2- Both Jenna and the one she is holding are nine years old....about as tall as each other as well !.
3- Jenna converted this one into a sea going undewater craft by painting it and instaling the canopy.
4- She also put a face on it, bringing it to life.
5- Its setup for 3 speed 400's.....its using two right now.
6- The pair, basking in the California sunshine.

She converted the Green one into an underwater craft.....it can run up to three speed 400's but we are flying with just two at the moment.Tons of thrust with three motors, scary tone !. One fella put fixed gear on his a while back. The E-Flite Etracts 10-15 size would be the ticket today with some brushless motors and lipo's. Also I almost hosed my Green one on its maiden by having the Canard reversed......Note to self ~ Down is " Up " and up is down !.

She painted it with a brush and installed the canopy, really changing the look of the beast. Just goes to show ya how versitile this airframe can be.....with the Elapor being ahead of its time.
Thanks for giving us the opportunity to show them to you. Good job Multiplex !. Certainly collectors items now.

Very cool, Pete! Its great that your daughter is helping out with the decor too!
How does it fly as a tri-motor?
Nov 24, 2012, 05:36 PM
Thanks Wilber and Orville !.

Yes.....she likes them more than we do !.

The Tri-motor one uses 32 amps and has a CC 35 amp ESC. Its launches better than a twin 400, but cant keep up with the twin 480's.Its just cool !. As stated, brushless motors were just on the Horizon when I built these. The Multiplex brushless 480's were like 80 bucks each at the time. So it would have been close to $ 350.00 for the brushless motors, can cell stick packs and ESC's back then. I suppose you could upgrade one for a few hundred now.
