Build the Weapon....
I have a V912 swash, and checking the balls reveals they are a poofteenth larger than the 9116. This might also be the case with the mixing arms but if so a few minutes with some fine sand paper or a ball reamer will solve the problem. The V911 has the same action (offset mixer) and the transfer from the flybar is noticeably less.

This mod is in the same vane as what I was working on, definitely worth a shot.

Swashplate motion is sent to the flybar, flybar motion is sent the head... in simplistic terms. The flybar is used to predict and influence head movement, hence the paddles. A flybar offset 45 will be missed, because motion does not occur until 90. It will be picked up in the next cycle, after the head, which is at 90 and has already moved. So, the flybar is now latent. It's movement can not be used to influence head movement because the head has already moved. In addition, it's movement does not fit the 90 phasing used by the swashplate and head, so it's out-of-phase. A latent out-of-phase condition mixed with normal phasing has considerable damping power.
Thanks for that, I think I understand your point now after looking at my 450. But the 450's 90 deg flybar is not really working directly off the swash and is somewhat independent. I am not sure there is any 90 deg heads available for the 9116, hence your suggestion to build one?

Hi all...........

After having my new DH9116 for a couple of days now, lightening it up a little, lubing things that should be lubed, balancing the main rotor blades, going through all the nuts-n-bolts, making sure all is good with the world..............then flying it, I have to say, in my own opinion, this really is one of the nicest (little) 4ch FP I have ever flown.........I actually like it better than my "Blades".............and again, only my personal opinion, but for those who call this specific Heli a "toy" are mistaken. I find it to be very nimble, responsive, sharp, easy to control, and really a joy to fly. Now mind you, I am only flying indoors right now, as I am in MN and it's really cold here !........really can't wait for some outside time with it. Again thanks to all of you here to share with and thanks for letting me be part of the group. Now.....go fly !!!!!!

Regards
Jeff

Now really my only main concern is cooling.............keeping the main drive motor cool. I am going to drill some holes in the cowling, like I saw someone else her did, and look for a heatsink the will fit the stock mo mo. The only other thing that would make this the utimate small 4h FP heli.........would be "brushless", shaft/belt driven tail (so only 1 mo mo to deal with) and if you could just bind it to an existing spektrum radio!..............I'd be in heaven man !

yes, this is obviously a mental idea, but i have to ask..

has anyone ever tried mounting another two blades on the little pivot on each side of the mainblade grips? as the mainblades change pitch, the pivot matches them and i had the wild idea of somehow mounting another set of blades to them. im sure it would stress the motor more, and i dont know how much it would mess with the handling, so im not sure whether to bother trying to work it out

just thought it would look cooler and sound a lot better. more than probably too difficult to match COG of all blades and make the link strong enough though

For JMCarlson...
I think I must've bought the last 2, really shmick looking heat sinks about 6 or 7 weeks ago, that will fit the 180 motor, coz I've had 2 more plus my iMax charger on order for a few weeks.
They haven't sent anything yet....so I have cancelled the (back ordered) heat sinks in order to get the iMax ASAP.
The heat sinks are the 28mm size & you just have to bend them slightly to fit the motor.
Pic of it on Page 73, #1053, in my blog & of course, on HK.
