Voltage & current readings of both "A" & "B" 180 BB motors.

O.K.
"We just want the facts M'am." Dum dee dum dumm. (Dragnet theme.)

The "A" motor. C/W rotation from the pinion end.
Ticks over at .24 volt @ .42 Amps.
1.0 volt = .48 Amps.
1.5 volts = .5 Amps.
2.0 volts = .52 Amps.
2.5 volts = .55 Amps.
3.0 volts = .57 Amps.
3.5 volts = .57 Amps.
4.0 volts = .57 Amps.
4.5 volts = .57 Amps.
5.0 volts = .54 Amps.
6.0 volts = .53 Amps.
7.0 volts = .53 Amps.

Stalled current at 1 volt (running & manually stopped) = 2.4 Amps.
....".........."........."..2 volts......"................"............"........ = 3.2 Amps.

The "B" motor. CCW rotation from the pinion end.
Ticks over at .2 volt @ .40 Amps.
1.0 volt = .55 Amps.
1.5 volts = .60 Amps.
2.0 volts = .62 Amps.
2.5 volts = .65 Amps.
3.0 volts = .65 Amps.
3.5 volts = .66 Amps.
4.0 volts = .67 Amps.
4.5 volts = .67 Amps.
5.0 volts = .67 Amps.
6.0 volts = .69 Amps.
7.0 volts = .66 Amps.

Stalled current at 1 volt (running & manually stopped) = 2.25 Amps.
....".........."........."..2 volts.....".................."................"... . = 4.4 Amps.

& the relative RPM's of each?.......They sounded about the same.
(I'm not going to mention what voltage I got them up to though.)

Surprising results from the "A" motor. The "B" motor sounded so much sweeter at the (not posted)......"slightly" higher voltages.

I am not going to try to stop them at any higher voltages due to the fact that I value my fingers.
These are running fairly fast & I am not using anything that will damage the pinions.
Tacho? Where fore art thou?

Bloody slow boats.

Yeah, I read a thread were you talked about that these 4ch birds aint suitable for taking the next step, I'm a quick learner and after about 20 flights with my v911 I can fly quick mode and do several "stunts" and acrobatics in my livingroom, not to brag but of course my aim is 6ch.
Should I then go directly to v922?
I also read your recomendation for quads, I totally understand why, but that in my opinion looses some of the charm...
I dont whant an "improved" 9116 if its not for my advantage.. Even though I will still continue modding my 9116 cuz I'm interested in the mechanics
I guess a small 6ch to start with? Which one?

Yeah and thats a problem! hehe I'll keep my 9116 for modding and as a toy
And talking about that here is my latest mod: Z-stabs
Seem to work great indoors, and thats my next problem.. here its -10C out so no outdoor flight for now, waiting to get a chance in a warehouse.

Thanks for thinking of me, Nicke.
I have 5 soldering irons ATM & don't really need another just for these SMD's.

Neat bending job there. Did you use "Bender" the robot from "Futurama"?

OK steve, we need to make a post of what got you there, It would be great to rule out the metal links, cause that may be out of most peoples skill set, but if someone were to do 2 or 3 mods, would it be:
1) move battery
2) trim flyweights
3) change mixing arms with (e-1003, v912, etc.. parts)
4) dd tail
5) 180 pro or other servicable motor.

once we get it nailed down we should make a new sticky/locked thread and/or have it added to the manual.

I wonder if someone could take a stock 9116 and just change out the mixing arms and get it to fly better than the f45

re; the serviceable motor/s...
These 180's are not fully serviceable. & the brush assy? Rubbish as well. IMHO.
They are crimped cans & you cannot change anything but the brushes.
No bushes, ball bearings, armatures, magnets.....nothing.
You cannot even find the bearings for them.
I have a stack of ball bearings coming for the S 16D's.
I just need a few other items & I'll start on the installation.

Steve... I just picked them at random. There are no figures or info on the package/s.
I took the pinion up the shaft to be the "A" motor.
"The "A" motor. C/W rotation from the pinion end."
It's no load figures look a lot better than the "B" motor.

The image on post #1748, shows both motors.
The "A" motor is the one with the pinion further on the motor shaft. AFAIK.

Not knowing the configuration of the heli they fit...I don't know which one drives what spur gear. ie; Upper or lower?

There are no arrows/marks etc on either.
The only differences are the pinion positions & the +ve & -ve are reversed.

hmm sorry to repeat myself - but a decent quad will outfly a lot of CPs - ideal learning instrument.
Ugly? not necessarily - look at my avatar.
How this thing does in really windy conditions?
have a look:
hubsan x4 in wind (2 min 8 sec)

and also flyable in every room.
If you get a decent Devo TX, flashed with deviation FW you may also fly this beauty with a hobby grade TX to practise for your CP.
and maybe buy a MCPX or MCPX BL
Blade mCP X Brushless (BL) BNF New (2 min 51 sec)

(got one for one week now - serious practice was really needed for it... whoaaaa ) as a next step.
If you are capable of flying the double brushless MCPX, you will be able to fly every CP easy as anything.

Thanks for the tip on the V912 pcb as a replacement for the POS DH 9116 PCB. I've ordered one from BG to try it out and see if that turns my DH9116's into something worth keeping. For a few bucks it's worth a try as currently my 2 9116's are paper weights. I have a box filled with tons of replacement parts - it would be sad to never use them!

180 motor rotation

pinion closest to motor is the bottom blade = clockwise rotation. I looked at my cx3 these motors have been a popular upgrade for the CX3. If I remember right they have a set that are modified also. I haven't got the cx3 down for a year or two it has all the possible mods and now it's just a shelf queen looks good tho LOL
