Hi, I'm starting this thread for people to post their Hero Black results and recommendations for workflow settings etc. So far I have only played with some 2.7k footage given to me by a fellow rcgroups member. here is what I have come up with so far:
this is a test I did in post. I did not shoot it. I love the neutral settings he had on. It reminds me of a mini black magic cinema camera. I do not like the way the iris or shutter is working here. I can see it changing. Hopefully they have some decent manual settings this time around. other than that it is looking wonderful. My color grade isn't the greatest. I am just getting used to speed grade but it was much better than the magic bullet tests I did. That software really deteriorates the footage. I'm looking forward to Monday when I can get my hands on one. So far much more detail than a Sony NEX5N.
There is lots of moire but what can you do...
I utilized 2.7k 30p gopro footage in Adobe Speed grade then applied post stabilization software, mercali v2, for corrections within Premiere Pro CS6. I stabilized footage in 2.7k then reduced size to fit 1080 just outside the mercali edges, about 75% of original size.
Did another pass through Speegrade then stabilized and added a lens distortion correction filter, straightened it right out, and aspect matte for cinematic effect. I
more tests coming up.
