Cheap power setup for Eflite f16?

What kind of cheap power setups are you guys using for the eflite f16? I flew it for the first time today with the stock edf unit on a 4s 2200mah pack 40c rated and it was pretty hard just to get into the sky. Need to keep between 3/4 and full throttle just to keep the thing in the sky. Im sure someone has put together a HK EDF unit with alot more power that makes this thing have some punch.

Nice site but im pretty clueless when it comes to picking out edf units. I have a 60a esc and plan on running the same 4s 2200 packs. I dont want to hog out the plane to fit a difd edf unit either

Its a 65mm fan, with an eflite motor,(ducted fan 480 ,,4800kv motor...this is he setup that came in the stock f16 a few years back...I think they dropped the kv toaround 3700 to 4200 range so the 4 cell setup could be used...they offered both kv for a while and may still offer both...the fan blades were just too flimsy though and it need a stronger rotor...

It took about 100plus feet to take off. And needs almost full power just to stay in the air

Id put a dons wicked plus 4000 on it. 2700 is low on a 65mm fan.

That is the reason it will not stay airbourne at lower throttle...
That kv is for a 70 mm fan with a much heavier rotor...
The #'s i gave you above is what should have been bolted to the fan...

Heres a few pics of the stock eflite setup...the thing is you had to purchase the fan and motor yourself and they probably got some bad advice on kv...probably thought it was for a 70mm..the mass of the 65 is about 1/3 the mass of the 70mm..the 70 also has a lot more pitch on the blades therefore it only needed around 2700kv..
So you can really spin the 65 need 3700 to 4000 kv for 4 cells...with the 65mm...
This 4800 kv eflite motor was what first came out and it was for 3 cells....when they upped to 4 cells they dropped the kv a little...
Good luck......just get a higher kv and you will be set!
With the dons 4000 stingeragents suggested that will be around a 100 mph little jet...
Thats right, ,"it goes 100 miles per hour".....

The jet on 3 cells stock was between 80 and 85 mph..

ohh wow my motor looks nothing like that. Mine looks like a run of the mill 400 motor with a collet adapter.

I had one and it went really good with the stock Delta V 480 on 3cell (90mph).

Hand launch was easy and the jet had nice response (was my first foam edf).

Still have the power setup for sell if you want, its mint and it's a good price.

I'm sure you can find flight reports with this setup, maybe even vid on YouTube.
