Another cool little detail to the design is our bulb. Phil Kaiko (ex America 3, America True & One World AC) was kind enough to design the foils for us & actually scaled the bulb from One World down to our size requirements.

Some A Sail testing from last fall. This was hull #1 at 1.8m loa, we've since changed our tooling taking it out to 2m with a scoop. This test was just for fun as we have no retrieval system.

Are you able to jibe it? 2 meters is getting big enough to experiment with a retreival system, I'd think? continuous halyard/ belly button /sock on/under deck?

No gybing, we just did this for a fun test. The boat is quick enough without a spin to be plenty fun we just couldn't resist trying it.

Had some fun with "Alinghi" and out local frostbite fleet today. We took a chase boat out and raced the 420 fleet in 6-8 knots of wind, spotted them 10 seconds at the start and rounded the top mark overlapped for 3rd in a 12 boat fleet. Plan is to do it again before they warp up frostbite sailing, we'll try to get some video

John, I use to crashboat for those guys in Essex, brings back good memories.

Great looking boat you have there.

Where are you? Sounds like a cool idea. Out here on the west coast, the wheeler which is a similar size design is popular. Ryan

We're in CT. I'd love to find someone with a Wheeler or 1.7m for us to lineup with and measure our performance.

According to the recently published AMYA database, there are 9 Wheelers in Region 1 (incl. CT)... Unfortunately no registered 1.7's in Regions 1 or 2...

Cool, so how do I go about tracking them down from here?

I would get ahold the class secretary through AMYA. Look on AMYA site and go to wheeler page, there will be an email contact for the class secretary. Ryan

Contact the Region 1 Director Jim Linville.
Jim has a few wheelers, and has friends with wheelers as well.
I don't know if he would be open to your idea of lining-up with them, but he's the guy you are looking for in the N.E. Area.
