FrSky FASST RX RSSI

Hi guys, have seen a lot about getting RSSI from FrSky rx's, specifically there own modulation Rx's, but nothing on their FASST compatible ones.

I have put this circuit down which I found online, does anyone know if it will work for say the TFR8, or the TFR8 SB? Anything with a frequency based output should theoretically work, but does the TFR8 have a frequency based (packet data) LED?

Cheers

also my time constant 1.1RC seems high at 0.748 secs. What is a suitable time constant for a RSSI buffer?

I asked a similar question. According to Penpen it should work.

AFAIK, the LED of the FrSky TF series Rx is blinking in the same way of their V8 series and Two-Way series.

So the RSSI convert might work as well.

I use the orange receiver.
It works. But if you lose the signal link completely, the red led blinks on – off – on – off which causes the filtered voltage to jump up and down…

I used the values for the resistor and the cap from the tutorial of rcexplorer. Are there any better values for the components?

If I build a few and test some different time constants would anyone else want one. Is there much call for these LED-buffer RSSI devices. Could always sell them on ebay.

Does this really work with the Frsky TFR8 SB?

I got another scheme as in the picture below but I havent tried anyone yet, jusr want to be sure it works first?

The guys at 3D Robotics recommend a 10uf capacitor and a 4.7k resister. I have been using that for several years. It’s simple and it works. http://plane.ardupilot.com/wiki/comm...th-indication/

I have tried lower resistor values but it never gets to 100%. Slightly higher values work but response is slower. I think that 4.7k is close to the optimum value.

Thanks man,
I hope it works with Frsky Futaba FASST rx (TFR8-SB) also?
That page shows a Frsky D8R-XP but maybe its the same solution and same components?
