Su-22M4 Fitter K, with plans, EDF version in post #71

Hi, everybody.
I want to build Su-22M4 in Polish Air Force colours. Su-22 is export version of Su-17.
My goal is to make swing wings.

My motivation - Su-22 from PhoenixRC sim.
Su-22 PhoenixRC (2 min 53 sec)

Very fine detail in the (google sketchup?) 3D thing. Looking forward to the swing wing mechanism........

Yes, this is google sketchup.
I wonder. Distance between the points of rotation in the wings is large, about 14inches. And, on the plane, they turn only wingtips.
Maybe instead of making mechanism as the F-14

I'll do a separate mechanisms for each wing.

Few pictures from building
Wing with kfm2 wing profile 6+3 depron (insulation) foam

Framework

And completed model.

This only a prototype. She will not fly. I did it only to examine the correctness of the design and for test gliding.

Today I did test glide for different swing wings.
Su-22 CoG and swing wing (0 min 28 sec)

The center of gravity has shifted to about 2cm (0,8inch) to the rear for the minimum wingspan ..

Position 0 - max wingspan CG is 425mm (17in) from the back
Position 1 - min wingspan CG is 405mm (16,2in )from the back
I wonder if in the final model will have some meaning.
Maybe is sufficient a small adjustment with elevator.

I want to do vertical stabiliser like in real plane, as panel.
I have seen this solution in F15 by GWS.
I use 9g servo to this.
Su-22M4 test stabilizatora (0 min 45 sec)

What do you think, is would be good? Maybe it's better to give a stronger servo?
I want to control plane only by elevons. There would not ailerons.

I want to do this painting.

I finished the tail.
It stiffen 1.6 mm plywood on both sides. Servo is in block of balsa.

In centerwing section will be reviewed by the electronics.

And that's all for now
