The railings for the FW III, contrary to popular opinion are metal, and the life lines are stretch cord so they stay tight looking.
I hammered the stanchions into the footings. (tight fit)

The footings that the stanchions go into are plastic, but with a slot on one side so they can pop out when bumped instead of breaking.

I don't think they look toy like, the more bling the better.
I'm going to add navigation lights to mine too, just like I did on my Nirvana.

A crew, some spare ropes lying about, whatever.
I like the scale look.
The line snagging problems can be overcome with a little thought.

It is always a good thing to rescue a classic from a landfill! That boat has many years of good service left in her! Be sure to post pictures of the complete "re-hab".
