Photos from White Sands Missile Range

I was on a business trip and was able to stop by the White sands missile range and the alamogordo space museum. I have to say that seeing a bunch of those rockets and missiles I have built models of was really exciting. I was able to actually touch a Pershing and Bomarc Missile The Talos is a huge missile. Hopefully you will enjoy the closeup shots. They had their V-2 refurbished and it is one of the most complete V-2's in existance. They had it made into a cutaway so you can see the internal structure and tanks, etc. They had some of the V-2 skin left over and were selling it mounted on a base, so I bought some real german December of 1944 V-2 skin I'm such a dork. Really, I'd encourage anyone in the area to go to the white sands missile park, it was outstanding.

WIsh you stopped by the local hobby shop and said hello! We would of been happy to take you out to the field to fly - rockets, planes, cars, whatever, no matter.

If you come back out, be sure to say "hi". Year 'round flying, all are welcome!

Thanks for posting these. I had no idea they had such a collection on display. I would like to see the trinity site (but that's only open to the public a couple days a year).

Alamo has a great flying field, and a wonderful group of guys in the hobby.

As a matter of fact, so do we!

The Mesilla Valley Model Aircraft Club is just over the hill from WSMR. The next time you're down here, come over to Las Cruces as well, and join us out at our flying field!

Not sure how it works... I'm out here working NIE 13.1 and have a pass for WSMR. Pretty cool to see the place where the U.S. space program started. Nice photo pictorial!

I see you made it out to the Alamogordo Space Museum.

Wow! I must have missed that exibition. I've been to the Space Museum, but not WSMR. If I am correct, the NB-52 and the larger missiles/ICBMs are at the National Atomic Museum in Albuquerque?
