NEW RELEASE -Top Rc Hobby T34 Mentor trainer 750mm

Well after the successful release of there 750mm Hawker hurricane Top Rc Hobby have now released a aircraft that as far as i know has not been done yet in Epo and small scale -the T34 Mentor trainer which saw service with the US AIR FORCE & NAVY from 1953+

One of the nice things about there range of new 750mm wingspan aircraft is the high detailing , nice paint work as well as ease to transport around unlike some of my more cumbersome models i own.
Overall it think it looks great and if the other aircraft i own from this company are to go by it will fly great too.

Like the hawker hurricane this will fly great on a 2c battery and 3c is not really advised as it will increase the wing loading.

I have a couple of youtube videos i will upload later

T-34 Formation Solo "Spiderpig" (4 min 39 sec)

As far as i know the U.S exported a armed version for countries who could not afford high performance combat aircraft and give them a dual role trainer with a light attack role. Some Modern Jet trainers have a light strike role like the BAE Systems Hawk trainer.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BAE_Systems_Hawk

Armed trainers tended to be popular in south American countries where they would be used in the counter insurgency role. So no need for a fast expensive jet just to bomb lightly armed gorilla units

The T-34C-1 was the armed export version.Equipped with hardpoints for training or light attack, able to carry 1,200 lb (540 kg) of weapons on four underwing pylons. The armament could include flares, incendiary bombs, rocket or gun pods and antitank missiles. Widely exported.

Carrying and delivering ordnance was part of the schedule for preparing pilots. Add to that, it was common for the military to press versions of the 'trainers' into service in combat (T-28, T-37 also) areas where their performance envelope fit the needs, much so in Vietnam.

If they're in USN livery, then the bombs come off. In my 9 years as a T-34C IP, there was NEVER a version that carried (or, more importantly, COULD carry) anything underwing.

Bombs/guns is a part of the Advanced Jet syllabus.

Yeah, that doesn't surprise me. I know to market these, they often stretch the additions to be more exciting. If it somehow technically fits, they'll put it on all of them.

Retracts of course would be nice but hardly available on models this size.

Servos I used were 5gram Is500s from Headsup RC, Was going to go with the 300s but .. Ehh.. Had the 500s here already.. And added along the front bottom across the span, a carbon fibre rod to help replace some of the lost integrity from cutting to seperate the flaps.. Hope someone else joins in..!!
